For years, many of fans have wanted to see Miles Morales on the big screen. At one point, there was talk that Donald Glover should be attached to the film as the character – if there ever were to be a film. Well fans have begged and they will finally get to see Miles Morales Spider-Man in his own film as he is introduced into the Spider-Verse. Except it won’t be with Donald Glover and it won’t be live-action…

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind.  Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.

It looks like a pretty neat animated film. I’m assuming Sony Pictures Entertainment feels that releasing an animated film with Miles Morales will be a safe way to test the waters for possible future live-action films. If so, I think it’s a smart move.

The film features voices from Shameik Moore (The Get Down), Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee), Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage), Jake Johnson (New Girl), Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Luna Lauren Velez (Dexter), and Lily Tomlin (Web Therapy).

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse swings into theaters this Christmas.

I have a certificate of completion for a children’s storybook writing program.
