The Domestics

SMT Summer Indie Preview: ‘The Domestics’ and More

Ah Summer… Ice cream, long nights and indie films! An old friend has risen from the grave with a new film. ‘The Domestics’ from the freshly returned Orion Pictures with Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush, 21) and Tyler Hoechlin (Everybody Wants Some, “Teen Wolf,” “Super Girl”) starts our summer fun.

THE DOMESTICS: Based on a screenplay by Nelson, The Domestics was produced by Gianni Nunnari (300, From Dusk Till Dawn, Seven) and Shannon Gaulding (Safe Haven, Immortals) and executive produced by Kurt Johnstad (Atomic Blonde, A Shot in the Dark) and Adam Krentzman (Moonchild, Oh My God).

In a terrifying post-apocalyptic world inhabited by murderous gangs divided into deadly factions, Nina (Bosworth) and Mark (Hoechlin) race desperately across the lawless countryside in search of safety. As one depraved group narrows their search for the couple, they must work together as they are pushed to the breaking point in order to survive.

Rounding out the cast are Lance Reddick (The Wire, John Wick), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina, Annihilation), Dana Gourrier (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained), Thomas Francis Murphy (True Detective, The Walking Dead) and David Dastmalchian (The Belko Experiment, Blade Runner 2049).

Orion Classics was relaunched in 2018 with a focus on multiplatform and specialized releases as well as acquisitions for distribution worldwide. The debut release from the label will be Mike P. Nelson’s dystopian action thriller The Domestics starring Kate Bosworth and Tyler Hoechlin in theaters on June 28, 2018 and on Video On Demand and Digital on June 29, 2018.

ELIZABETH HARVEST: Newlywed Elizabeth (Abbey Lee) arrives with her brilliant scientist husband Henry (Ciaran Hinds) to his magnificent estate, where he wows her with lavish dinners and a dazzling tour of the property.  The house staff, Claire (Carla Gugino) and Oliver (Matthew Beard), treats her deferentially but she can’t shake the feeling something is off.  Henry explains that everything in his world now belongs to her, all is for her to play in — all except for a locked-off room he forbids her from entering.  When he goes away for business Elizabeth decides to investigate and finds she may not be who she thinks she is at all.

GRAVES: SEASON  3: In two days, Jane Stevenson turns thirty. But honestly, things can’t get much worse. She spends her days at a crappy job and her nights lost in the Eye of Nostalgia. Kate’s leaving town, Jacob’s dead in the woods, and Rich is doing weird stuff with Fred Jones. And now the demon Astaroth has made a deal with his father to finally become flesh. This might just be a birthday Jane won’t ever forget. Or survive.
GRAVES is a lo-fi, VHS-style, horror-dramedy web series in the vein of “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.” Recently nominated for Best Indie Series at the 2017 Streamy Awards, GRAVES has been called “strangely charming” by AV Club, “a mumblecore-y mash-up of Spaced and Buffy” by Paste Magazine, and “lo-fi comic horror” by SyFy. “GRAVES” is an indie gothic throwback about facing your past, present, and future: one demon at a time.
The eight-episode final season of “GRAVES” premieres on June 17th, running weekly on Vimeo, Youtube, and everywhere else internet video exists. Watch season 1 & 2 right now at graveswebseries.com
