Apple TV+ has announced the renewal of its highly praised global sensation “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” for a second season, in partnership with Legendary Entertainment. Building upon the immense success of the series, Apple TV+ has inked a new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment, encompassing a second season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and multiple spinoff series based on the franchise.
Morgan Wandell, head of international development for Apple TV+, expressed excitement over the impact of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and the opportunity for viewers to delve deeper into its world. The series follows the journey of two siblings uncovering their family’s ties to the secretive organization Monarch, exploring the realm of monsters and the legacy of Army officer Lee Shaw across generations.
The upcoming season is executive produced by showrunners and co-creators Chris Black and Matt Fraction, along with various other talents involved in the production. Additionally, Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character, is represented in the executive production team.
The Monsterverse, initiated with the Godzilla film in 2014, has expanded into a vast narrative universe encompassing films, series, video games, and more. Apple TV+ provides a platform for premium original content, boasting a diverse range of offerings across genres.
Since its launch, Apple TV+ has garnered acclaim and numerous awards for its original programming, including hits like “Ted Lasso” and “CODA.”
