‘Mission: Impossible Fallout’ Featurette Showcases HALO Jump Stunt

Paramount has released a brand-new featurette for a new stunt from the upcoming ‘Mission: Impossible Fallout‘ and it looks absolutely insane. Although the franchise is seeing it’s 6th entry with ‘Mission: Impossible Fallout‘, star Tom Cruise seems bound and determined to top himself with each respective entry. One of the highlights of the franchise have always been witnessing the memorable stunts that Cruise and co. bring to the big screen.

Even though director Christopher McQuarrie teased the stunt on social media a few weeks ago, this feature provides a quick nuts and bolts approach to how they actually accomplished shooting such a dangerous stunt. The featurette dives into how they prepared for the jump with the creation of Tom Cruise’s helmet–which served as both a prop and life-saving device–all the way to the actually implementation of the stunt. Although the crew ended up requiring nearly 100 jumps to get the timing  of the sequence right, it’s kind of crazy that they only gave themselves a three-minute window every day to shoot the sequence. Suffice to say that this might be the most thrilling of all the stunts that we’ve seen in the franchise to date.

In addition to Cruise, the film also features supporting players in Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan, Sean Harris, Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby. Henry Cavill (“Justice League,” “Man of Steel”), Angela Bassett (“Black Panther,” “American Horror Story”), and Vanessa Kirby (“Me Before You,” “The Crown”) also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie (“Jack Reacher”) returning to the helm.
