Catching Up With The Winner Of ‘The Voice’ 15-Year Old Brynn Cartelli

We were super excited to be able to catch up with the incredibly talented Brynn Cartelli to talk about her recent win on Season 14 of “The Voice”, what she plans to do with the prize money, being part of new judge Kelly Clarkson’s team and more.

Cartelli, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, is the youngest contestant to ever win on “The Voice” at just 15-years old. She won America’s vote, cinching the title over 18-year old Britton Buchanan. You could see the look of surprise and then sheer joy when her name was revealed by host Carson Daly as the winner.

When speaking about how much of a whirlwind everything has been since winning “The Voice”, Cartelli tells us, “It’s been crazy!” She went on to tell us about what that moment was like on stage saying, “When I was up there, I was really okay with whatever happened one way or another. I was rooting for Britton and I was rooting for everyone else. When it got to the top two, Britton and I just looked at each other and I said ‘Britton, you’re going to win’ and then he said to me ‘Brynn, you’re going to win’, so we were just really supportive of one another. It was a really cool moment.”

We asked Cartelli how she was planning on spending some of the prize money, as she did reveal she had definite plans of putting it back into music. She revealed, “I need to get a new guitar so I’ve considered using some of it for that.”

When speaking about the challenges that go along with competing on as show like “The Voice” such as dealing with the judges, the audience, nerves and all of that, Cartelli tell us, “It’s definitely been really crazy and I think the worst part of it all is that people, and everyone knows this going into it, but you can forget that people aren’t always watching to support you. Some people are just watching because of the show sometimes and I think that is what we forgot a lot … that not everyone is watching because they love you and not everyone is going to be supportive of you.

You have to remember that you can only control so much and you have to learn not to pay attention to a lot of it, such as online comments and things. It was hard, but it was really good to learn those things early on before going into the industry.”

Cartelli was part of judge Kelly Clarkson’s team during her first season on “The Voice” and she was definitely excited about it. She says, “I was really excited. She was super, super cool. She is such an awesome person and a really great mentor to have at the beginning of my career.”

It was revealed that Kelly Clarkson has agreed to continue to work with Cartelli as a mentor as she gears up for the release of her album. Cartelli comments, “She [Clarkson] did agree to help me out with my career and navigate it and I couldn’t be more excited about that.”

Now that she has won “The Voice” Cartelli says that she’s most excited about “making some music!” She goes on to say, “I’ve never created an album or anything of my own until we did the single for the show and that was fun and all, but I just can’t wait to do it on my terms and for myself instead of for television.”

We asked Cartelli where she would like the direction of her album to go, she replied, “I’ve been sending Kelly some inspirations of mine and some albums, and I’m like this is what I want my album to be like for example I’m going for this sound or these feelings. Planning the album has been really fun and it’s only been two days so we are still in the process of talking about it, but I can’t wait to get in there and actually create.”

When speaking about the amazing feed back her single “Walk My Way” written by Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels & Nick Monson has been receiving, Cartelli comments, “It’s been really cool. It’s been at the top of the charts since Monday night and that is an amazing feeling.”

We know that that creative process can be very therapeutic for many artists, Cartelli tells us, “Before the show we were just doing covers, so I had only experiences recording covers and other people’s music in the studio and that alone is magical, but when I went in to record “Walk My Way” it was just the energy of knowing that no one’s heard this yet but having the feeling that people were really going to like it, it was incredible. I was so, so, so excited!”

Talking about which songs people tend to gravitate toward as they invoke certain emotions , Cartelli reveals, “It’s definitely crazy, but so true!” She went on to tell us that she wants to send a “big thank you out to all the fans” who supported her and voted for her “whether it was one vote or a hundred votes” she is forever thankful and appreciative. She says, “I just want to get new music out for those that supported me because they deserve it and I just can not wait and it’s so exciting!”

We are definitely excited for Brynn Cartelli’s upcoming album as well!  Season 15 of “The Voice” will return this fall when the coaches will include Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson.
