New ‘Mission: Impossible Fallout’ Stunt Revealed

Tom Cruise has revealed a new stunt from Paramount’s upcoming release, Mission: Impossible Fallout. The film has had a storied production in the past year–from Cruise breaking his ankle doing a stunt to all of the hullabaloo surrounding Henry Cavill‘s facial hair in the sequel–amounting to over a year’s worth of filming on the sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Writer/Director Christopher McQuarrie recently teased the conclusion of filming on the project, but now it seems that Cruise and McQuarrie still have one crucial stunt left to capture of celluloid–the actor/producer jumping out of a plane at 25,000 feet, going 200 mph.

On Sunday, McQuarrie took to his Instagram account to share what is supposedly the final shot needed to complete the film:

The duo had previously posted about the stunt on a few other occasions in the past, so this evidence (along with the comments above) seems to point that this is either a reshoot of that previously-shot sequence, or some sort of pick-up of somethign they never got int he first place. Either way you look at it, it’s good to know that Cruise and co. are hard at work trying to top all of the crazy stunts in the impending film.

In addition to Cruise, Mission: Impossible Fallout stars Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Michelle Monaghan, Sean Harris, Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby. The film is set to be released on July 27, 2018. In the meantime, here’s the synopsis for the film:

The best intentions often come back to haunt you.  MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong.  Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.
