Ti West’s “Maxxxine” Gets A Theatrical Release Date, But Will This Be The Last Film In The Franchise?

Ti West and Mia Goth’s much-anticipated follow-up to X and Pearl will be hitting theaters this summer.  MaXXXine will follow Maxine, who was the only survivor of the bloody incidents of X, as she continues her journey towards fame to be an actress in the 1980s, Los Angeles.

A24 will release MaXXXine in theaters on July 5th.  In addition to Goth, MaXXXine features a murderer’s row including Elizabeth Debicki, artist and musician Moses Sumney, Bobby Cannavale, award-winning artist Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon. Combined, and Pearl have grossed close to $25M worldwide.

The timing of the release goes along with the second anniversary of X premiering at the South by Southwest Film Festival. It was at that festival that it was announced that a prequel film “Pearl” had been filmed during lockdown in New Zealand. West has hinted that if “MaXXXine” does good in theaters he has an idea for a fourth film. Only time can tell, but we hope West and Goth continue to collaborate.
