Can Sebastian Maniscalco And Bert Kreischer Save The Future Of Comedy Feature Films ?

Over Memorial Day Weekend, two comedians have movies opening a day apart. First up is Sebastian Maniscalco a comedian who has appeared in supporting acting roles in the films Green Book and The Irishman. Maniscalco will make his leading role debut in “About My Father” which also co-stars Robert De Niro, and Leslie Bibb.

If you follow Sebastian’s stand-up, you know he mentions his father a lot in his jokes. Those jokes were the inspiration for the film. “About My Father”  The film’s synopsis is as follows: Sebastian tells his old-school Italian immigrant father Salvo that he is going to propose to his all-American girlfriend, Salvo insists on crashing a weekend with her rich parents.

Opening the very next day is Bert Kreischer film debut in “The Machine” which also Star Wars alum Mark Hamill who plays Bert’s father. “The Machine” follows Bert’s drunken past catches up with him 20 years down the road when he and his father are kidnapped by those Bert wronged 20 years ago while drunk on a college semester abroad in Russia.

Bert and Sebastian are amazing stand- up comics. Each comic has his own voice. And for the last decade their material has been leading up to what will hopefully mean box-office gold. We need to show that their are more people going to movie theaters than just comic-book fans. Comedy needs to come back to theaters and hopefully these two films show those Hollywood suites that more people want to laugh.
