Pop! Pop! Ep. 54 – Birds of Prey Review

Another month, another podcast!  This time we’re coming in hot and fresh with a review of the latest DCEU blockbuster: Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey … Or wait, isn’t it Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn …?  Apparently WB and DC have no idea what they want to call this movie seeing as they changed the title ON RELEASE DAY!  Oh well, before we get to that, we’ve got some nerd news!

Hipsters rejoice, there’s a new Wes Anderson movie on the horizon!  The first trailer for Anderson’s next film, The French Dispatch just dropped, and boy oh boy does he really up the ante with the cast for this one!  All the regulars you know and love are back and we have quite a few newcomers to this one, such as Timothee Chalamet and Benicio Del Toro!  Color us excited!  We break down the Marvel spot that premiered during the Super Bowl and discuss Sam Raimi taking over the reigns for Doctor Strange 2.  Joel has some tinfoil hat theories about Sam Raimi and the Spider-Verse…

Last episode we made our Oscar predictions and now it’s time we compare our guesses to the final results.  Let’s just say we all took a fat Bong hit with Hollywood and we’re very excited how the 2020 Oscars played out.  Moving on to one of the most exciting news pieces from this episode is the reveal of Robert Pattinson in the new Batman suit!  We’ve been following Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman film for quite some time as you know, and this test footage of R-Pats in the suit puts us in the conductor’s seat of the hype train!  The BAT SYMBOL, THE COWL, THE CAPE!  He looks damn good in the suit and we can’t wait to see more.

And last… and sort of maybe least, our Birds of Prey review is here!  You could probably guess who in this group was not a huge fan of the film, but there are honestly some surprise opinions on this film.  We had originally thought that Ewan McGregor was going to be the best part of this movie, does that hold up?  Who surprised us in this film and who let us down?  Does it leave way for a sequel and if so, what will that look like?  All of this and MORE on this episode of Pop! Pop!
