Netflix has revealed the release date and new images for the highly-anticipated new series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Based on Jim Henson’s groundbreaking 1982 feature film The Dark Crystal, this new prequel series tells an epic new story. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to the world of Thra with a brand-new adventure. Set years before the events of the movie, the show is realized using classic puppetry and cutting-edge visual effects.
When three Gelfling discover a horrifying secret, they set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world. Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Release Date & Images
The launch date of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will be Friday, August 30th. Luckily, the Jim Henson Company will produce all 10 episodes, with each being an hour long in length. Simply put, this show is shaping up to be a real treat for fans of the original film. Equally so, the cast for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is also shaping up nicely.
Leading the voice cast are Taron Egerton as Rian; Anya Taylor-Joy as Brea; and Nathalie Emmanuel as Deet — our three Gelfling heroes. Other Gelfling characters are voiced by Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong and Alicia Vikander.
The Skeksis & Mystics are voiced by another group of impressive names. Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg and Andy Samberg round out this side of the voice cast. Furthermore, Aughra will be voiced by Donna Kimball. Additional characters will also be voiced by puppeteers from the production. This includes Alice Dinnean, Louise Gold, Neil Sterenberg and Victor Yerrid as Hup.
