We Have A Kevin Smith

I’ve never been to Hollywood. Even though visiting Los Angles has crossed my mind time or two. I know nothing about how movies are made, but I am a huge fan of a variety of movies and directors. One of my favorite directors is New Jersey native Kevin Smith. And one of the reasons I like Smith is not for his director’s eye, but because he has a huge heart.

Kevin Smith has been making films now for I  dare say more than 25 years now. All though some of his films have not been hits with certain audiences, it’s what the writer/director does with his stories that keep audiences coming back. It’s a simple concept. He followed his dream. Sometimes dreams are worth chasing.

The world almost lost Smith on February 25th, 2018 when he suffered a massive heart attack between shows in California. Doctors told him if he had not canceled the second show and rushed to the hospital he would have most likely died. Someone was looking out that day and Smith is still with us. He lost 50 pounds and sticks to a healthy diet. And he recently wrapped his next film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. The movie will bring back many of Smith of course and his sidekick in life Jason Mewes. Many of the actors in Smiths films will make cameos including Joey Lauren Adams, Rosario Dawson, Shannon Elizabeth, and Jason Lee. Totally looking forward to seeing this flick.

“We have a Hulk.” Is a famous line that Tony Stark tells Loki in the Avengers movie, One of the reasons I like Kevin Smith so much is the fact that he tours around the country and overseas (when he’s not filming a movie) telling hilarious personable stories, but also tells the audience that it’s all right to follow your dreams. You don’t really hear that too often. Or maybe its that we forget sometimes that is all right to follow your dreams.

Mr. Smith, I’m glad you’re doing a lot better these days. When I watch your films, and the dialogue that translates between your characters. Thank you for so many years of classic films and even the ones the critics panned. Thank you for telling people like myself and others that it’s all right to follow your dreams. But most of all thank you for being you.

No release date has been announced for the release of Jay and Silent Bob reboot. Be sure to check back soon.
