Billy Dee Williams to Return as Lando Calrissian in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

It has been 35 years since Billy Dee Williams last flew the Millennium Falcon on the big screen as Lando Calrissian but Williams will return to a galaxy far, far away one more time to reprise his role for Star Wars: Episode IX.

According to THR, the site has confirmed that Williams will indeed be returning to the Star Wars franchise after the actor had pulled out of an appearance for a pop culture convention due to scheduling conflicts with a filming schedule.

Although it has been over thirty years since we have seen Williams in the physical role of Lando, Williams has since voiced the character on numerous projects such as Lego Star Wars, Star Wars Rebels, Robot Chicken: Star Wars and most recently in Star Wars: Battlefront 2. When it comes to the character Lando, audiences last seen the character on the big screen in Solo: A Star Wars Story with Donald Glover playing the younger version of Lando.

Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Oscar Issac are all expected to reprise their roles and it’s also been rumored that Felicity star Keri Russell is currently in talks to play a role in the upcoming film which is due out December 2019. J.J. Abrams also returns to the franchise to write and direct the film.

I'm a pop culture fanatic based out of Southern California. My collection of comics and pop culture memorabilia would even impress The Collector. When I'm not busy writing about pop culture news, doing film reviews or interviewing celebs, my brother and I work on a comic book called Blood-RED (And yes, that was a cheap plug). I have a certificate of completion for a children’s storybook writing program.
