‘The LEGO Movie 2’ Reveals Official Title and Logo

Warner Bros. has finally revealed the title and logo for the ‘The Lego Movie 2‘. It’s been a great deal of time since we’ve heard anything about ‘The LEGO Movie 2‘. Last we reported, director Rob Schrab was set to helm the forthcoming sequel, but was eventually replaced by Chris McKay due to “creative differences.” Now, with the film a little under a year from it’s release, we’re going to start seeing more form this movie as it’s release date grows closer.

Check out the new teaser poster (via Twitter), which features both the official title and logo from the film:

Indeed, the title of the sequel is ‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part‘. The film is set to see the return of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, although the duo serve as producers the time around. Part of the reason behind this was their commitment to ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘, but we all know how that turned out. Apparently, Lord and Miller came back to work ‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part‘ after departing that film, so it serves a vote of confidence toward the film by the duo.

Although plot details are scarce at this point, one of the film’s other producers Chris McKay detailed how the sequel might play out (via Collider):

“The Duplo represents Finn’s sister, Finn being the little boy from the live-action. The Duplo is her. The man upstairs said, “You’ve gotta play with your sister. That’s the thing you’ve gotta promise me. I’ll let you play with my world, but now you’ve gotta let your sister come in and play with your world.” Now, she’s coming in, and that’s the major thing that the movie is about. What’s different and similar about gender, when a boy plays vs. how a girl plays? What kinds of stories are there? Chris and Phil are super fucking smart and really thoughtful and sensitive writers. The kinds of questions and the interesting ideas that they’re getting into with this movie, it’s going to be like the first LEGO Movie was, where it’s about something else that’s really profound. I’m really excited about where the movie is gonna go because it’s about these things that are actual notions that people have that might even be unconscious biases, where people don’t even realize that that’s the way they’re looking at the world. You can do that in a movie like this, and still have it be a great musical with fun songs, and have action and all of the other crazy things we’re gonna get into with that movie. It’s gonna be a really special movie.”

Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum, and Jonah Hill are all confirmed to return, with Tiffany Haddish entering the sequel to the 2015 smash hit. Expect the film to have some sort of Comic-Con presence, but in the meantime we’ll just have to anticipate the release of ‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part‘ on February 8, 2019.
