Trailer Binge: ‘Kodachrome’, ‘First Reformed’, ‘Revenge’, ‘Cargo’, ‘The Darkest Minds’ & ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Season 4

Welcome to Trailer Binge, a recurring feature where we get a chance to catch up on some of the recent trailer releases in the past week. Whether it be indie releases, or recent movie and TV trailers that may have otherwise slipped through the cracks, Trailer Binge allows us to catch up on the seemingly constant onslaught of new new content being released each week.

In this edition of Trailer Binge, we take a look at trailers for the new Netflix film ‘Kodachrome, the first trailer for A24‘s ‘First Reformed‘, and a red-band trailer for the blood-soaked flick ‘Revenge. Plus, we have trailers for the Martin Freeman-led zombie film ‘Cargo‘, a new trailer for AMC‘s Fear the Walking Dead‘ Season 4, as well as a trailer for the latest YA adaptation ‘The Darkest Minds‘ from 20th Century Fox. Let the binge begin!


Kodakrome Trailer

The Netflix film was directed by Mark Raso and scribed by Jonathan Tropper (Banshee), inspired by a New York Times article written by A.G. Sulzberger. ‘Kodakrome’ stars Jason SudeikisElizabeth Olsen and Ed Harris. The film is set for release on April 20, 2018.

Struggling A&R executive Matt (Jason Sudeikis) finds his world turned upside down when his estranged father’s nurse (Elizabeth Olsen) shows up unexpectedly in his office. Matt’s father, a famed bad-boy photojournalist (Ed Harris), is facing terminal cancer and his dying wish is for Matt to join him on a road trip from New York to Kansas to process his last rolls of Kodachrome film before the sole remaining lab closes and those captured moments are gone forever. Kodachrome tells the story of three damaged people coming to terms with themselves, each other, and a world swiftly changing from analog to digital.


First Reformed Trailer

First Reformed‘ was directed by Paul Schrader, the writer of taxi driver. The A24 film stars Ethan Hawke and Amanda Seyfried, which is set for theatrical release on May 18, 2018.

Reverend Ernst Toller (Ethan Hawke) is a solitary, middle-aged parish pastor at a small Dutch Reform church in upstate New York on the cusp of celebrating its 250th anniversary. Once a stop on the Underground Railroad, the church is now a tourist attraction catering to a dwindling congregation, eclipsed by its nearby parent church, Abundant Life, with its state-of-the-art facilities and 5,000-strong flock. When a pregnant parishioner (Amanda Seyfried) asks Reverend Toller to counsel her husband, a radical environmentalist, the clergyman finds himself plunged into his own tormented past, and equally despairing future, until he finds redemption in an act of grandiose violence. From writer-director Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver; American Gigolo; Affliction) comes a gripping thriller about a crisis of faith that is at once personal, political, and planetary.


Revenge Red-Band Trailer

Revenge‘ stars Matilda Lutz as Jen, and was directed by Coralie Fargeat. The film is set for theatrical release on May 11, 2018.

Jen (fearlessly embodied by Matilda Lutz, Rings) is enjoying a romantic getaway with her wealthy boyfriend which is suddenly disrupted when his sleazy friends arrive for an unannounced hunting trip. Tension mounts in the house until the situation abruptly––and viciously––intensifies, culminating in a shocking act that leaves Jen left for dead. Unfortunately for her assailants, Jen survives and reemerges with a relentless, wrathful intent: revenge.


Cargo Trailer

‘Cargo’ is directed by Yolanda Ramke and Ben Howling.  The film stars Maritn Freeman and is set for a Netflix streaming release on May 18, 2018.

Stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic, an infected father desperately searches for a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.


Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Trailer

Fear the Walking Dead‘ Season 4 stars Kim DickensJenna Elfman, and Lennie James–among others. Season 4 of the AMC series is set to premiere on April 15, 2018 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Subsequent episodes of Fear the Walking Dead will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sunday, April 22, 2018.

In season four, we will see the world of Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and her family through new eyes — the eyes of Morgan Jones (Lennie James), who is joining the story from the world of The Walking Dead. The characters’ immediate pasts mix with an uncertain present of struggle and discovery as they meet new friends, foes and threats. They fight for each other, against each other and against a legion of the dead to somehow build an existence against the crushing pressure of lives coming apart. There will be darkness and light; terror and grace; and the heroic, mercenary and craven, all crashing together toward a new reality for Fear the Walking Dead.


The Darkest Minds Trailer

The Darkest Minds‘ Stars Amandla Stenberg, Mandy Moore and Gwendoline Christie. The 20h Century Fox film was directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 2) and opens August 3rd, 2018.

When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.
