Welcome to Weekend Watch, where we highlight some of the best nerd-related videos released throughout the week. Whether it be short films, behind the scenes videos, or video essays, the only requirement is that they are about–in some shape or form–our favorite movies and TV shows!
In this edition of Weekend Watch, we take a look at this week’s Honest Trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a great interview snippet of Ridley Scott discussing his approach to directing, and a cool Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 VFX breakdown. Plus, we have a cool video of Steven Spielberg, Olivia Cooke, and Tye Sheridan discussing Ready Player One, and a fun video where the always magnificent Jeff Goldblum answers the web’s most searched questions about himself. Although this trailer feels like Screen Junkies ripping themselves off a bit, it also hits the nail on the head in almost every respect. Obviously, spoilers lie ahead.

In the video, Scott discusses his humble beginnings, getting his first feature directing gig at the age of 40 & working with actors for the firs time, along with what he thinks it takes to be a successful film director.

Even though most of the showreel from the VFX house seems to focus on the characters or Rocket and baby Groot, this video gives a great deal of insight on the laborious work that it takes to bring this universe to life.

In the video, the legendary director digs into what attracted him to the script, along with why this film in particular provided a completely different editing process than he was used to.

The unconventional interview features Jeff Goldblum answering the web’s most searched questions about himself. The result is an insightful look at some of the finer details of the actor’s life, such as what kind of cat the he currently drives.
