New ‘Solo’ International Posters Feature Much Less Plagarism

Lucasfilm has released a batch of new international posters for Solo: A Star Wars Story and they feature much less plagiarism. Although the film’s marketing recently hit a rough patch amid allegations of plagiarism, Disney stated that “an outside vendor” created the original set of posters, and this poster release seems to be Disney’s way of rectifying the situation. You’ll notice that the massive block lettering has been removed, and replaced with the style of font that we’ve seen previously from the film. You’ll also notice a lack of guns in these posters, specifically with Han.

It’s an interesting movie on the part of disney, but hopefully this controversy won’t affect the box office opening of the film in a few months. There’s really not much else to say about the way that Lucasfilm has handled the film at this point other than “we’ll see”. Solo: A Star Wars Story pretty much sums like a crapshoot at this point, but time will tell when the secretive film is released in just a couple of months.

Directed by Ron Howard, the film was written by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan. Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie NewtonPhoebe Waller-Bridge, and Paul Bettany, and hits theaters on May 25th. Here’s the official synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Storyalong with the plagiarism-free renditions of the poster below:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
