‘Deadpool 2’ Shot A Secret Cameo; Outscores Original In Test Screenings

Deadpool 2 is easily on the most anticipated movies to be released in the coming months. After two amazing trailers, along with another unique marketing campaign, the 20th Century Fox film seems primed for success. Despite the massive amount of hype for the film, we learned last week that there were conflicting reports about the test screenings of Deadpool 2 earlier this year, with some saying that the film was testing poorly with audiences. Much to our relief, Collider reported that these claims were mearly exaggerations, and that Deadpool 2 was actually testing very well with audiences with scores in the “high 90’s”.

Now, THR is reporting the same, but they have gone into further detail–providing some specifics about how the test screening process for the film went down. They say that the most recent screening of the film received an audience rating as high as 98, which is a pretty tough score to accomplish when your movie is still a work-in-progress. Here’s what they learned form insiders:
The Ryan Reynolds-fronted sequel has been tested three times, with the scores for the first two screenings coming in at 91 and 97. The final test, which occurred in Dallas, tested two separate cuts simultaneously, which scored a 98 and a 94. The 98-scoring cut is the version the team is using, a source with direct knowledge told THR.
So it seems that Deadpool 2 is indeed testing well, with sources describing the atmosphere in the 98-scoring screening as “being electric and akin to watching the Super Bowl.” The report also notes that the original film tested at a 91, so hopefully this will finally quell some fears that the film might not live up the quality of the first.

In addition to all of this, THR sheds some light on the recent reshoots that Deadpool 2 conducted. In addition to acquiescing to test audiences’ demands of wanting to see more of Cable and Domino in the sequel, it seems that a super secret cameo was shot in LA recently:
Deadpool 2 underwent reshoots — six days’ worth last month in Vancouver — to add more of what test screening audiences enjoyed. That’s three days fewer than those done for 2016’s Deadpool. There was also two hours’ worth of work recently in Los Angeles for a secret cameo.
Indeed, It seems that Deadpool 2 will feature some sort of cameo that will probably serve as a post-credits stinger to set up the soon to be shooting X-Force film. David Leitch steps into the director’s chair for the sequel, with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning to write the script. In addition to Brolin and Beetz, Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hidlebrand, T.J Miller, Stephan Kapacic, Jack Kesy, Leslie Uggams, Terry Crews, and Eddie Marsan. The film is currently slated for a May 18th, 2018 release date, moving up a few weeks from it’s intended June 1st, 2018 release. Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
