Motion-Capture legend/genius/god/the Michael Jordon of his craft, Andy Sekis has been called upon to lend his talents as the Hulk for the upcoming Marvel sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron. Mark Ruffalo is once again starring as Bruce Banner/Hulk, but called the Mo-Cap aficionado Serkis to give the Hulk an even richer performance. Ruffalo is great as Bruce Banner, but anytime Mo-Cap is needed, and Serkis has some free time, why not use his talents. Even if it’s mostly consultant work, the Hulk should be even better in the sequel.
Andy Serkis got his break after staring as Gollum/Sméagol in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Since 2001, he has revolutionized the way motion capture performances are utilized, and used Mo-Cap as a whole new way to bring characters to life. Serkis can be seen in the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the final Hobbit film, Godzilla, Star Wars Episode VII, and now Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Whatever Serkis contributes, it will certainly add to the quality of the production. Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is now currently filming, with a scheduled release date of May 1, 2015.
On the rumor side of things, according to Latino Review, Lou Ferrigno has said that a solo Hulk movie is in the works after the Avengers sequel. We’ll see how that plays out, but in the meantime we have plenty to focus on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Guardians of the Galaxy next in line opening August 1.
