‘Amityville: The Awakening’ Trailer

When The Amityville Horror was released in 1979, I don’t think that anyone would have thought that it would have spawned a franchise, let alone 12 sequels. That’s right, you heard me– the Amityville franchise will have had a total of 13 installments after the release of this new film. Although it’s not entirely clear if this yet another sequel, or yet another reboot, or a mix between the two.

Along side this, it seems that this new film will incorporate a social media aspect in hopes to usher the franchise to a new generation? It seems that the trailer is trying too hard, and more importantly, giving out a bunch of plot details and scares in the process. Regardless of this, Amityville: The Awakening stars Jennifer Jason LeighBella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Kurtwood Smith, and Mckenne Grace. Check out the trailer below:

Amityville: The Awakening hits theaters on April 1st.  Here’s the official synopsis along with the poster (via Collider).

Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
