The ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer is Here!

Marvel Studios has debuted their newest trailer tonight during their new ABC series Agent Carter, the highly anticipated Ant-Man.  As most know, Ant-Man has seen its fair share of production trouble, losing original director Edgar Wright who had been working on the film for years, was replaced by Peyton Reed (Yes Man).  The film stars Paul Rudd as con-man Scott Lang, who will be mentored by former Ant-Man himself Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).  Ant-Man will be Marvel’s second film to open in 2015, Avengers: Age of Ultron opening first on May 1st.

The first trailer is puzzling, as the tone certainly is all over the place, little action shown, and a lot of serious walking occurring (although, the special effects team hasn’t had much time to work on the film, production wrapped not long ago).  Like everyone else, when I heard Edgar Wright was dropping out as director I of course worried.  Wright and Marvel couldn’t seem to come together, so now we have the Peyton Reed version, with Adam Mckay and Paul Rudd receiving solo writing credits.

Marvel gets a pass as far as their first trailers go, and their execution of Guardians should put to rest some fan concerns.  Having said that, I’m not exactly sure what to think of the trailer.  I’m not overly impressed, but like that they are taking a chance on another unique franchise, who will undoubtedly be obsorbed in the entire MCU.  Fingers crossed, for the acting talents in the film seem ripe for another Marvel hit.  I just hope they’re not rushing to get this movie out.

Here’s the first Ant-Man trailer.  Enjoy!
