Since Covid began last year, there has been one voice that I constantly looked forward to hearing week after week. And that voice belonged to comedian Joey Diaz. Diaz has been a stand-up comic with thirty years of experiences and stories. Along with his stories and jokes, Diaz also goes out of his way to answer questions and advise about life and comedy.
I have been a fan of Joey Diaz since first seeing him on the Joe Rogan Podcast two or three years ago. I was super excited to find out that at the time, Diaz had a podcast at the time called, The Church of what’s Happening Now, which he co-hosted with Lee Syatt. Since Covid occurred, The Church wrapped up last year, and Lee Syatt is still doing podcasts. Be sure to look him up on YouTube and other platforms.
Last year Joey Diaz moved back to his home state of New Jersey. Later that year, Diaz launched a new podcast called Uncle Joey’s Joint. On the podcast a few weeks back, Diaz had actor Vincent Pastore on, and the actors shared some hilarious stories. Pastore is famous for portraying Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the acclaimed HBO series The Sopranos.
Pastore and Diaz have a solid resemblance to each other. Diaz has even admitted that the resemblance has helped him get more than a couple of acting gigs. Pastore told Diaz that they should work together on a tv show during the podcast and then dropped an idea for a show where they played brothers, and I would watch the said show. So if anyone in Hollywood is reading this or has listened to the podcast, please make this happen.
Diaz is still at work on his stand-up comedy and has a role in the upcoming Sopranos prequel film “ The Many Saints Of Newark” and drops a podcast every week. Vincent Pastore is teaching an acting workshop at HB Studios in New York City. Check both of these guys out. They have a lot more stories to tell.
