Six Of The Most Anticipated Movies Of 2020

The movie industry is booming, despite Harvey Weinstein’s best efforts to tarnish it. The appetite for movies will simply never die out. In a world full of ups and downs, good and bad, films are seen as an escape, to some, from a modern world that is becomingly increasingly unfamiliar or – and without looking into it too deeply – people just love a bit of good, honest entertainment from a movie containing some of their favorite actors, for example. Who knows the real reason really, but movies will always thrive, that’s for sure.

Of course, other forms of entertainment serve a similar purpose, be it playing Fortnite on a Playstation 4 or getting your mobile phone out to play live baccarat online, for example, but the escapism a classic movie can provide is simply unrivaled. For example, last year, in 2019, several memorable releases hit our screens, whether it was the twisted but brilliant Joker or the beautiful depiction of The Lion King, it was another excellent year for cinema and its audience.

But what does the future hold in 2020? Will we see yet another year full of excellent releases? Chances are, yes. So, without further ado, below is a list of six of the most anticipated movies of the year ahead.

Sonic the Hedgehog

We all remember the various Sonic the Hedgehog games, right? Well, the movie promises to be just as memorable. Despite its release being put back to February 14 after complaints from fans regarding Sonic’s appearance after a sneak-peek was released last year, director Jeff Fowler and his team have undoubtedly perfected the movie even more in that time. With Jim Carrey as the villain Doctor Robotnik and a new and updated Sonic, this is a movie well worth checking out this year.

Mulan

Disney loves a live-action remake at the moment, and although not all of them have proven to be a success, Mulan is expected to be. Directed by Niki Caro and featuring a cast of Chinese legends like Donnie Yen, Gong Li, and Jet Li, Mulan is sure to be a huge hit this year. Hitting our screens on March 27, it should be worth a watch.

The New Mutants

Directed by Josh Boone and expected to be released on April 3, The New Mutants is a superhero horror movie based on the Marvel comic book series. Its cast is reasonably impressive, with Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton and Anya Taylor-Joy from Split involved. The New Mutants is definitely one to add to the diary.

Candyman

The classic 1992 horror film is getting a sequel, and with Jordan Peele behind it, big things are expected. Released on June 12, the story of a murdered son of a slave whose ghost haunts a Chicago neighborhood is bound to be spooky viewing.

The Witches

Expected to be released at the beginning of October, The Witches is a remake of Roald Dahl’s dark fantasy novel for children. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, The Witches will feature Anne Hathaway, who will star as the Grand High Witch, and is sure to a successful release. Stanley Tucci and Octavia Spencer are also in the movie.

No Time To Die

Pretty much every new James Bond movie is highly anticipated, right? Well, No Time To Die is no different. The 25th Bond film is being directed by Cary Fukunaga – who previously directed the brilliant True Detective series – and is expected to be Daniel Craig’s final appearance as 007. Released on April 8, this is surely unmissable.
