Oliver Queen Hangs Up His Bow And Arrow, As Season 8 Will Be Arrows’ Last

Talk about being taken by complete surprise! It was recently revealed that the infamous DC superheroes of The CW will be getting hit with a major loss. It has been announced that a shortened season 8 will be the last for the hit CW series “Arrow’.

This news comes despite the fact that the network renewed all the series directed by Greg Berlanti at the beginning of the year, however, this does not appear to be the case for “Arrow”, as it was revealed that “Arrow” will conclude with season 8. The series about the Green Arrow formed the basis of the Arrowverse in 2012, which now includes the spin-offs The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and soon Batwoman.

Announcing the cancellation of the series, Stephen Amell tweeted his gratitude at being given the opportunity to play the avenger. Meanwhile, Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz, co-creators and showrunner of Arrow respectively, also shared a press release to explain their choice:

“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind. We’re heartened by the fact that ‘Arrow’ has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come.

We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”

Unlike previous seasons, the eighth season will only contain ten episodes. Rumor suggests that Oliver Queen dies at the end of the crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, following the pact made by the Arrow with The Monitor in the four episodes of “Elseworlds”.

For now, we will just have to wait and see, but that would definitely be one last huge sacrifice for the character and perhaps the most fitting way to see him go out!
