Bruce Campbell Bids Farewell to Ash Williams

Evil Dead fans are truly feeling the pain, because the man the myth the legend, Mr. Bruce Campbell has decided to retire from portraying the character Ash Williams. With a chiseled chin and quirky comebacks Campbell made the Ash character a pop cultural phenomenon.

The Evil Dead franchise burst on the scene all the way back on October 15th, 1981. The first film became a cult hit and made Ash Williams a horror icon. With three films, and a TV show Evil Dead has seen its ups and downs throughout the years and Campbell and his trusty boom stick have proven that he is here to stay.

Bruce Campbell even released an official statement to the masses:

“Good people, Evil Dead fans everywhere, I bid you a heartfelt farewell playing Ash – the character I took acting lessons with for 39 years. I am hereby retiring from that portrayal. It’s time. I followed Ash from his formative years thru his mid-life crisis and decline. What a thrill! What a privilege!”

Starz the channel that aired Ash Vs. Evil Dead did not renew the show for a fourth season, and most likely played a part in Campbell stepping away from the Ash character. Ash Vs. Evil Dead is still airing on Starz so be sure to check the show out. Well Mr. Ash Williams we hope you have a groovy time wherever the road takes you.
