Box Office: ‘A Quiet Place’ Regains Number One Position

After debuting with $50 million, and narrowly losing to Rampage last weekend, A Quiet Place has reclaimed the number one spot at the weekend box office.  Three weeks after its release, the film earned another $22 million.  A Quiet Place has made $132.3 million domestically and now has a worldwide cume $207.1 million.  Impressive.

Like the Rocky and Apollo fights in the 80’s, A Quiet Place and Rampage have been trading blow for blow.  After the slight victory over Place in its debut last weekend, Rampage has given back the crown.  Falling to number two with an estimated $21 million isn’t all bad news.  Rampage is cruising over seas.

The newest Rock vehicle has brought in $66.6 million domestically, and a terrific $216.4 million internationally.  So far, Rampage has earned $283 million worldwide in just 10 days.

Amy Schumer‘s I Feel Pretty debuted third with an estimated$16.2 million.  Produced by STX Entertainment, the film a reported production budget of $32 million.

Exceeding industry expectations was the fourth place finisher Super Troopers 2, debuting with $14.7 million.  The crowd-funded sequel was made for just a little over $13 million.  The fans have spoken. After sixteen years since the original, there was a desire to reunite with the Broken Lizard gang.  It also didn’t hurt that the film opened the weekend of the marijuana holiday 420.

Rounding out the top five was Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare earning an estimated $7.9 million.  The film has earned an estimated $37 million worldwide.
