‘Shazam!’ Reveals Official Logo; Q&A Coming Tomorrow

Warner Bros. has released our first official look at David F. Sandberg‘s upcoming superhero film, Shazam! Although the studio had year of ups and downs in 2017 with Wonder Woman and Justice Leagueit seems that the result of the latter’s box office disappointment has forced the studio to take steps toward moving an a different direction. Aquaman was already shot before the release of Justice League, so the brunt of this change falls squarely of Shazam!

In case you are unaware, Shazam! follows the character of Billy Batson, who upon saying the words “Shazam”, transforms himself into an adult superhero who has increased strength, the ability to fly, super speed, among other abilities. Even though we haven’t really seen much from the production of the film, we do know that it is currently shooting in Toronto, and that the film bas been described as “Big meets Superman“.

We also know that Shazam! stars Zachary Levi (‘Chuck’) as the titular hero, while Asher Angel will play young Billy Batson. In addition to Levi and Angel, the stellar cast includes Mark Strong as the villainous Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, IT breakout Jack Dylan Grazer as Billy’s best friend and “ultimate superhero enthusiast,” alongside Grace FultonFaithe HermanIan Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas Jones as the Wizard.

Overall, I really love this logo. It’s pretty standard faire for the most part, but the idea of it selling a DCEU film that will be lighter in tone than what we’ve seen in the past. In addition of the logo itself, we’ve learned (via the film’s twitter) that EW will lead a Q&A from the film’s set tomorrow:

Indeed, we will be seeing our first official look at the movie from the set of the film, tomorrow March 21, 2018 on Facebook live. The filmmakers will no doubt be taking fan questions during the Entertainment Weekly-led Q&A, and hopefully we’ll get our first official look at Zachary Levi’s title character along the way. In the meantime, here’s the official Logo and synopsis for Shazam!:

“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
