‘Mission: Impossible 6’ Finally Gets A Title, Releases 4 New Images

Tom Cruise has joined instagram in the best way possible–by revealing the official title of Mission: Impossible 6, along with some new images that tease Ethan Hunt’s latest adventure. The new title, ‘Mission: Impossible Fallout‘, is certainly tantalizing, but what does it mean exactly? According to writer/director Christopher McQuarrie it could mean a number of things, at least that’s what he told Empire:

“The title has multiple meanings in the film, from the literal to the figurative. There is the threat of nuclear terrorism hanging over the movie, which is the literal threat. There’s the notion that what’s happened in the movie is the end result of choices that Ethan Hunt has made in his life. It’s Ethan’s past come back to haunt him. It’s the fallout of all his good intentions.”

Based on some of the newly-released images, it seems that this is certainly the case, as the film will most likely deal with the repercussions of stellar Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. But the production of the film hasn’t been without it’s difficulties, so this also seems to apply to the behind the scenes aspect of the film as well. The images themselves give us a good look at what are probably sneak peaks from the trailer itself, including our first official look at Henry Cavill‘s mustache character, along with a cool image of Cruise in midair. The highlight of the bunch has to be the image that features Cruise performing a death-defying stunt by hanging off of the side of a helicopter.

The Mission: Impossible movies have always featured a signature set piece with each installment, but could this be our first tease of what the big stunt will be this time around? McQuarrie has stated that he “may have found something” that could top the big stunt in Rogue Nation that saw Cruise hanging off the outside of an in-flight airplane. Would this be the stunt he was referring to in the image below? I guess we’ll just have to wait for the impending trailer to find out, as it will surely be featured. Mission: Impossible Fallout is currently scheduled for a July 27th release.

In addition to Cruise and Cavill, the film also stars Simon PeggRebecca FergusonVing RhamesSean HarrisAngela BassettVanessa KirbyMichelle MonaghanAlec BaldwinWes Bentley, and Frederick Schmidt. We can expect a trailer for the film by the end of the weekend at the latest. In the meantime, here’s the newly released Images, along with a brand-spankin’ new synopsis for the film:
