Evil Dead fans rejoice! It may have taken some time but Ash and company will return to fight off the dead once more as Ash vs. Evil Dead returns on February 25th. Here is the official synopsis along with the first trailer for the upcoming third season.

When Kelly witnesses a televised massacre with Ruby’s fingerprints all over it, she returns with a new friend to warn Ash and Pablo that evil isn’t done with them yet. Blood is thicker than water in the battle of good vs Evil Dead!
In addition to the trailer and synopsis we also received a bit more information from Ashy Slashy himself during some recent interviews. Here is what Bruce Campbell told EW about the new season.
“I can’t say much because we’re going to try and do some crazy shit,” Campbell said. “But we’re probably going to crack more into Ash’s big picture story. He is foretold in an ancient book. He’s not just some guy in a crappy trailer home. There is a myth to Ash, there is a story, and so we want to explore a little more of that Joseph Campbell, big picture story. Why him? Why that guy? Why is he chosen to save the world?”
Campbell also talked to Bloody Disgusting about the long running mythology behind his character being the “chosen one”.
“Sam (Raimi)’s theory has always been that every millennia, the evil rises to test the mettle of the average man, not the special man, the average man. It’s a little biblical because there’s some story in the Bible, Evil’s like, ‘Let’s have Evil fight Good. You bring me your best man, I’ll give you our best man, let’s duke it out and see who wins.’ On the good side, they’re like, ‘I’m just gonna send you a schmoe, because we’re so confident in Good that even a schmoe can take you guys out.’ So that’s why Ash is essentially the Chosen One, he has no skills, zero skills, he’s not Navy SEAL or former FBI.”
The first two films focus on a group of friends spending their vacation at a cabin in the woods infested with demons, pitting Campbell’s character in the middle of a war between good and evil. The third film has Ash travel back in time, where the character is shown a book predicting his arrival, claiming him as the”Chosen One” capable of fighting an army of the undead.
Ash vs Evil Dead season 3 will return on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 9PM ET/PT.
