Trailer Binge: ‘Blindspotting’, ‘Anon’, ‘Safe’, ‘Life of the Party’ & ‘Detroiters’

Welcome to Trailer Binge, a recurring feature where we get a chance to catch up on some of the recent trailer releases in the past week. Whether it be indie releases, or recent movie and TV trailers that may have otherwise slipped through the cracks, Trailer Binge allows us to catch up on the seemingly constant onslaught of new new content being released each week.

In this edition of Trailer Binge, we take a look at trailers for Sundance darling ‘Blindspotting‘, the Sci-fi film ‘Anon‘ and a new Michael C. Hall series ‘Safe‘. Plus, we have new trailers for the new Melissa McCarthy comedy ‘Life of the Party‘ and ‘Detroiters‘ Season 2. Let the binge begin!


‘Blindspotting’ Trailer

Blindspotting will debut in select cities July 20th, and also stars Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal, Janina Gavankar, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Ethan Embry, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Wayne Knight.

Collin (Daveed Diggs) must make it through his final three days of probation for a chance at a new beginning. He and his troublemaking childhood best friend, Miles (Rafael Casal), work as movers, and when Collin witnesses a police shooting, the two men’s friendship is tested as they grapple with identity and their changed realities in the rapidly-gentrifying neighborhood they grew up in.


‘Anon’ Trailer

The film hits Netflix on May 4th and also stars Clive Owen, Amanda SeyfriedColm Feore, Mark O’Brien, Sonya Walger, Joe Pingue, and Iddo Goldberg.

Sal Frieland is a detective in a world with no privacy or anonymity; where everyone’s lives are transparent, traceable, and recorded by the authorities; where crime almost ceases to exist. But in trying to solve a series of murders, Frieland stumbles on a young woman known only as the Girl. She has no identity, no history and is invisible to the cops. Sal realizes this may not be the end of crime, but the beginning.


‘Safe’ Trailer

The series also stars Michael C. HallAmanda Abbington, Audrey Fleurot, Hannah Arterton, and Marc Warren. Safe Season 1 premieres on Netflix on May 10th, 2018.

Partners, children, lovers, parents, and friends – does anyone really know the people they love? And how well do people know Tom? As the story opens, Tom, a paediatric surgeon and single father to two teenage daughters, is still reeling from the death of his beloved wife. Now he’s in over his head trying to juggle his new life – raising two daughters and dealing with his grief over Rachel’s death. Because, as we come to understand, the guilt Tom feels is rooted in moral complexity – a mystery from the night of his wife’s death that will be revealed.

Ultimately, we will learn the truth about how Tom’s wife died. We will learn the reason for Tom’s guilt from that night. We will learn that Jenny has a secret from that night – something that set her down a dark path of discovery that now threatens to blow families and a community apart.

In the final reckoning there will be redemption.


‘Life of the Party’ Trailer

Life of the Party stars Melissa McCarthyGillian Jacobs, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen, Matt Walsh, Molly Gordon, Stephen Root, and Jacki Weaver. The film hits theaters on May 11, 2018.

When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna (McCarthy) turns regret into re-set by going back to college…landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who’s not entirely sold on the idea. ‘Detroiters’ Season 2 Trailer

Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson star, and Detroiters Season 2 will premiere with back-to-back half-hour episodes on Thursday, June 21 at 10 p.m., and then each Thursday at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central.

Detroiters stars real-life best friends and Detroit natives Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson as small-time ad men in the Motor City. Whatever they do, they do it together. And no matter what, Tim and Sam’s love for each other and their city never wavers. In the second season, Tim and Sam work with bigger clients including the Michigan Science Center; Sam pursues new romantic interests; Tim’s brother starts working at Cramblin Duvet and has a disruptive effect on the office; and the guys produce an ad with their hero, legendary Detroit news anchor, Mort Crim. The ten-episode second season guest stars include Tim Meadows, Bobby Moynihan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Faizon Love, Amber Ruffin, Jerry Minor, Conner O’Malley, Nora Dunn, Mort Crim, and University of Michigan football coach, Jim Harbaugh.
