‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ Sequel in the Works

It looks like we’ll have another round of Jumanji. With the recent success of the rebooted Jumanji, Sony Pictures plans to rake in some more dough with a sequel to Welcome to the Jungle.

Welcome to the Jungle writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are currently in negotiations to write the script for the planned sequel. According to Variety, the sequel would also bring back Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan to reprise their starring roles, while Jake Kasdan is expected to return as director. All obviously smart moves by Sony Pictures.

The reboot starring Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black turned into a much bigger success than initially was thought. When the plans for the reboot was announced, many fans where either on the fence or just flat out did not want the film to be done. Since its opening, Jumanji‘s domestic total is just over $352 million and its worldwide total is currently at $855 million. The film went on to earn the top spot at the box office for three weeks and counting. If that’s not a hit, then I don’t know what is.

In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…
