David Gordon Green‘s reboot of ‘Halloween‘ has finally stepped in front of cameras. After what ended up being a few minor delays, it seems that the seboot (sequel/reboot, were still not quite sure which one it is) to the beloved horror classic has finally begun filming in South Carolina. In what almost felt like a practical joke, the script was conceived by writers Danny McBride and Green, and will see the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. now, Curtis has taken to her Twitter account to give us our first good look at her return to the character that she brought to life for the first time nearly 40 years ago. Here’s the newly released image, which gives us our first good look at present-day Laurie in the upcoming ‘Halloween‘ film:
First shot! First day. Same slate. Same Laurie. David Gordon Green directing from his script. Happy Halloween 2018 everyone. See you 10/19/18 @halloweenmovie #HalloweenMovie pic.twitter.com/iSC7NOblEA

Although this new image doesn’t give us a whole lot of new information, it is not only telling of where we’ll find Laurie’s character at this point in her life, but it’s also just kinda badass at the same time. It’s interesting, because you normally don’t think of someone like David Gordon Green to direct a horror movie–let alone a remake of a horror classic–but alas, here we are and it seems that this movie is actually happening.
What’s really cool about ‘Halloween‘ is that we will also see the return of Nick Castle, who played “The Shape” in the original film. In addition, John Carpenter has given his blessing, and is even rumored to be writing the score for the film. The story is rumored to disregard the events of everything after ‘Halloween II‘–including 1998’s ‘Halloween H20‘, which attempted to essentially do what this movie is doing–and will introduce Laurie’s daughter (played by Judy Greer), as well as her granddaughter. ‘Halloween‘ is currently set for an October 19, 2018 release, just in time for Halloween itself.
