SXSW (South by Southwest) festival is mixing a bit of sugar, spice and everything nice by having a special premiere event for the Cartoon Network series The Powerpuff Girls!
On March 14, fans will get to catch a world premiere screening of The Powerpuff Girls, a pre-party and parade with giant-balloon likenesses of all three Powerpuff Girls at Austin, Texas’ SXSW on March 14.
Back in 1996, The Powerpuff Girls premiered on the Cartoon Network and became an instant hit with girls and boys of all ages. The show ran for 78 episodes and earned two Emmy Awards. The success of the series also led to The Powerpuff Girls Movie, with Warner Bros. Pictures in 2002.
The new series will follow the superhero sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as they protect their beloved city of Townsville. This new reboot is being produced by Cartoon Network Studios, with Nick Jennings (Adventure Time, SpongeBob SquarePants) serving as executive producer and Bob Boyle (Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!) as co-executive producer.
If you are not able to attend the SXSW festival, you can catch The Powerpuff Girls when it premieres with back-to-back episodes on Monday, April 4 at 6 p.m. (ET, PT) and that’s not all! Following this premiere are two action-packed weeks of new episodes (Monday-Friday, April 4 through 15 at 6 p.m. ET, PT), leading into the show’s regular time slot, Thursdays at 6 p.m. (ET, PT), on April 21 only on the Cartoon Network.
