‘True Detective’ Season 2 Teaser

Since the first season of True Detective hit HBO in January 2014, the buzz has been incredible.  Created by Nic Pizzolatto, the series was an anthology from the beginning.  Meaning every year the show is on, we’ll get a different story.  This allows the shows creators the opportunity to tell a concise and complete story.  There is no need to unnecessarily stretch-out the story like so many shows do today.  After an amazing season one with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, we get our first look at season two.

The director of season one, Cary Joji Fukunaga has left to pursue other projects, so we may get a different visual style this season.  Fast and Furious director Justin Lin is directing the first two episodes of season 2, so the show is in good hands.  The cast looks great again this time around, and the trailer looks awesome.  There’s no dialogue in the trailer, and the music seems to set the tone for the upcoming season.

Wow!  That was great.  I’m going to go watch season one immediately after posting this article.  Here’s the official synopsis:

A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life’s work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own. Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective often at odds with the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.

True Detective Season 2 premieres Sunday June 21st.

True Detective Season 2 Recap and Review

True Detective's second season was definitely a sophomore slump but it deserves a decent amount of praise as well. Few shows are wiling to change as drastically as True Detective, even if the results are going to be up in the air.
