First Trailer for ‘Gotham’ TV Series

FOX has begun marketing their optimistically hopeful hit series, Gotham, airing the first trailer during the premiere episode of 24: Live Another Day. The series stars Ben McKenzie as the young Jim Gordon and and David Mazouz as 12-year old Bruce Wayne. Basically the premise of the show will be based around the murder of the Wayne family, Gordon as the man who vows to catch the culprits and a young Bruce dealing with the emotional fallout. We know the show has been picked up for at least a 13-episode season, but it’s still hard to tell weather or not the show will live up to the expectations fans have for the beloved superhero. Check out the first trailer for Gotham below!

The greatest challenge for FOX in this scenario is marketing a series expected to revolve around Batman, without actually including the Caped Crusader. In the upcoming series, Bruce Wayne is about 12 years old. While there are many interesting ideas and potential story arcs for the show to focus on, it’s fair to say many viewers will be tuning in to see Batman in action.

Similar to ABC’s new series, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, FOX will immediately be fighting an uphill battle by creating a superhero show where the familiar heroes and fan favorites are never actually seen. Based on what we know so far, The show will primarily focus on Jim Gordon and the seedy underbelly of Gotham City, as viewers will learn the origin stories of well-known villains such as The Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman.
