Inaugural World Oddities Expo Promises Spooky Fun Halloween Weekend in Baltimore

MECG LLC and Villain Arts, the creative team behind the Philadelphia Oddities Expo, are coming to Baltimore Halloween weekend to present the inaugural World Oddities Expo, a three day convention with vendors, tattoo artists, workshops, live entertainment, with featured charities: The Natural History Society of Maryland, Pinups for Pitbulls, and Poe Baltimore. This three-day convention will be held at the Lord Baltimore Hotel, an elegant, national historic hotel, ranked number one on the Nine Most Haunted Hotels in Maryland list according to Haunted Rooms America. Doors open Friday, November 1 at 3 PM.

Tickets cost $20 for a day pass and $45 for all three days. General admission includes access to the Lost Curio Market with over 50 hand-picked vendors and the Oddity Ink Parlour sponsored by Villain Arts. Daytime educational workshops include: Lessons In Bone: an osteology workshop with real human skulls hosted by Nick Cestone; The Headhunter Workshop hosted by archeologist Matt Olsen, featuring some of the most interesting creatures to have ever been found in the animal kingdom; and true crime historian and collector Fritz Fell showcasing artifacts and lecturing on several true crime icons. Evening entertainment includes performance artists and burlesque shows: Friday night is The Last Halloween Hurrah hosted by Toxic Girl Cosplay with a costume contest and prizes; Saturday night is The Speakeasy Circus in conjunction with Hexwork: A Spellbinding Burlesque Revue. Add-on workshops and entertainment, which can be attended without attending the full event include hands-on biology workshops that vary in price by class, ranging from $125 for insect pinning to $200 for taxidermy workshops, plus fees on November 1 and 2; and the Not So Silent Cinema, accompanying the classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu with a live instrumental score, Saturday November 2 at 6PM $20 patrons/ $30 for non-patrons.

The event is all ages, with the exception of the Friday and Saturday evening events, The Last Halloween Hurrah, and The Speakeasy Circus, both 18 to enter/21 to purchase alcoholic beverages, with valid ID. The Lord Baltimore Hotel is ADA accessible. Staff is committed to providing a safe, inclusive event for all participants.

Tickets are available in advance through www.woetothee.com or at the door. All add-on activities have limited seating, so attendees are encouraged to book ahead to ensure a spot. Weekend attendees are encouraged to make hotel accommodations using the group attendee code WOETOTHEE1 for a discounted rate.
