What’s up nerds! I bet you’re surprised by this semi-regular schedule, aren’t you? This week on Pop! Pop! the guys have a really good laugh at the DCEU (but really, when don’t they?) because their new show Swamp Thing already got canceled and they’ve literally only aired the pilot. Who are they, Firefly!? Too soon, I know. Looks like that DC streaming platform isn’t going to last very long… *crickets*.
The next best thing to happen this week is the season 5 debut of Black Mirror! From Miley Cyrus to Anthony Mackie, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) to Toper Grace in a man-bun, the guys break down what they did and didn’t like about the latest installation of the celebrated anthology series.
This episode doesn’t have a lot of nerd news because it’s really about one thing: X-Men: Dark Phoenix. No one on this podcast has ever been shy about their hatred for this movie… and that was before it even came out. The bad taste of The Last Stand still lingers in everyone’s mouths… every… single… day. It’s tough to be a movie about The Phoenix while in the shadow of that 2006 garbage fire, but they very well did it anyway. We don’t want to spoil the podcast for you, but the reactions aren’t quite what you’d expect them to be.
Go in knowing this – there are three versions of X-Men: Dark Phoenix: the movie which is set within the continuity-screwed Fox X-verse, the movie which is a standalone send-off to the X-Men franchise, and the movie which is just one long Cyclops showreel. One is good, the other is terrible… But which one is hands down amazing? You’ll have to tune in to find out!
