Disney Is Preparing For A ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ Sequel

It has been 30 years since the original classic Disney film “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” was released and now rumor has it that Disney may finally have a sequel in the works. The original film starred actor Rick Moranis and Marsha Strassman and was directed by Joe Johnston and quickly became a cult classic.

It is not clear whether the new project that has been put on the table by Disney will be an actual sequel, after all, we did have “Honey, I Blew Up The Kids”, but it could possibly be a reboot instead. The studio opted to call it a “legacy-quel”, a strange format which is a rendition in the future of a story and a universe of a previous movie.

Set to take place thirty years later, this new film will star Josh Gad in the role of the son of Wayne Szalinski. A scientist like his old man, the character will… you guessed? Accidentally shrink his kids! Of course.

The project does not have a release date nor a director yet, despite the fact that Disney is very enthusiastic about it. Indeed, while the movie was initially meant to be broadcast only on Disney+ the studio finally opted for an upgrade and decided to release it in theaters.
