The first season of SyFy‘s Happy! arrives on Netflix today. The Chris Meloni-driven vehicle was met with overall positive reviews from critics and fans alike. It was certified 79% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and received a 94% audience score.

“Hello there, kitty cats,” Meloni began in a video post on his official Instagram account. “Today is the day that Happy! Season One drops on Netflix. So, Id’ appreciate it – and the rest of the cast and crew would appreciate it – if you checked it out. And then, any complaints you might have about the show, you can send them right on to Syfy, ’cause that’s where it all started. But today…Season One. Netflix, America. Ok, kittens, go back to work.”

The show is a dark comedy that collided with a crime drama. It stars Meloni as Nick Sax – a former cop who’s become a down-and-out hitman – and Patton Oswalt as the voice of Happy, an imaginary unicorn who’s here to help. The show also features Lil Mironjnick, Joseph Reitman, Ritchie Coster, Medina Senghore, and Patrick Fischer.

The television series Happy! is based on the popular graphic novel by Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson. Show star and Emmy Award nominee Chris Meloni, best known as the intense Detective Elliot Stabler on the long-running Dick Wolf production Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Meloni turned in his badge and gun back in 2011 after a 12-year run. After appearances on True Blood in 2012 and the Emmy Award-winning Veep in 2014, Meloni is once again a leading man in this twisted SyFy series.
