First Images Of Joaquin Phoenix In ‘Joker’ Revealed

Many were wondering about the casting choice of Joaquin Phoenix as the infamous Batman villain Joker in the upcoming film “Joker”, as both actors Heath Ledger and Jared Leto left some pretty big shoes to fill in terms of the look of the role.

Both Ledger and Leto each had their unique styles with Ledgers being the disheveled, scarred, green stringy-haired psycho-look and Leto’s being a more tailored look with tattoos to the extreme.

What we see with our first look at Phoenix in the role is a more toned down Joker character, which appears to show him in his civilian, rather than super-villain form. Director Todd Phillips shared the first image of Phoenix as Joker on his Instagram account, simply titled “Arthur”, which fans will recognize as Arthur Fleck, the Joker’s real name.

The film “Joker” is set to be released in October of 2019 and this new frail and trimmed down look for the Joker is definitely a new identify for the beloved character. It is said that Phoenix went through massive weight-loss to take on the role and replicate the new vision for the character as being fragile and frail before his transformation.

The “Joker” film is an origin story for the Joker character and will follow his journey from run of the mill odd guy to the supervillain we all know and love. The website, Just Jared, has also released several additional photos of Phoenix on-set in Brooklyn, even one of him interacting with a clown … could he be recruiting?
