Universal has finally released the first images from ‘Halloween’, and they look extremely promising. Although we won’t see the first trailer for the film until later this week, these new images (via USA Today) tease Michael, Laurie, and a potential confrontation between the two. In case you are unaware the film treads the line between sequel and reboot, ignoring most of the franchise except for the original film. Taking Place 40 years later, the film follows Laurie, her daughter and granddaughter as Michael terrorizes Haddenfield on Halloween night once again.
The images themselves seem to capture the look and style of the original which is great it terms of continuity, it remains to be seen how the tone of the trailer will stack up. We get good looks at both characters, but I’m really loving the weathered look of Michael’s mask this time around. It has a gritty feel, without straying away form the look of the original. Although director David Gordon Green seems like an unlikely choice for the project, the helmer has always shown the propensity to extend himself into new genres–with varying results. Regardless of what you may think of Gordon Green’s other work, his take seems to be right in line with the original.
The film Stars Jamie Lee Curits, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Virginia “Ginny” Gardener, Dylan Arnold, Drew Scheid, and Miles Robbins, and features the return of Nick Castle as The Shape (James Jude Courtney also helps bring the role to life). Gordon Green co-wrote the script with Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley, with Jason Blum on board as producer. Here’s the official synopsis for ‘Halloween’, along with the new images below:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
