Melissa McCarthy and Jim Henson’s son, Brain Henson, together? You’re right! An R-rated crime comedy! A new red band trailer for The Happytime Murders is here and rather than me try to explain it, why don’t you just watch it below.

THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS is a filthy comedy set in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. Two clashing detectives with a shared secret, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together again to solve the brutal murders of the former cast of a beloved classic puppet television show.
This may be the most ridiculous idea, or it may be genius. Seeing that Brian Henson who has been involved in some of biggest films that involve puppetry such as The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppets Treasure Island, The Great Muppet Caper, The Labyrinth and many more, and he has learned a lot from his father, the late great Jim Henson.
If you look at it, The Muppets were made for adults. They debuted on SNL way back when SNL was just getting started. Although, these aren’t technically The Muppets, the concept still remains the same. I’m not much of a McCarthy fan these days but I am pretty interested in this film. It looks like an R-rated Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
The Happytime Murders stars Melissa McCarthy, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, Maya Rudolph, Leslie David Baker and Jimmy O. Yang.
