Jon Favreau to Write Live-Action ‘Star Wars’ Series

Disney has announced that Jon Favreau has signed on to write as well as executive produce an upcoming live-action Star Wars series.

Favreau, who got the Marvel Cinematic Universe running with Iron Man, will develop the Star Wars series for Disney’s new streaming service.

“Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe,” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement.

Jon Favreau has been making the house of mouse his home for quite sometime now. After directing Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Favreau went on to direct the live-action version of The Jungle Book and is currently directing the live-action version of The Lion King. He will also appear as Happy Hogan in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and will serve as executive producer for the film.

When it comes to Star Wars, Favreau is very familiar with that galaxy. The actor turned filmmaker has voiced characters in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and will also voice a character in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story film.

“If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the ‘Star Wars’ universe, I wouldn’t have believed you,” Favreau said. “I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure.”

Favreau’s Star Wars series does not have a title or release date yet.
