New ‘Robin Hood’ Trailer Brings A Sense Of Humor

Summit Entertainment has revealed a new trailer for the latest adaptation of ‘Robin Hood‘, bringing a light sense of humor into the mix. When it was first heard that yet another film adaptation of the beloved story would be coming to the big screen, the news was seemingly met with a massive groan. After all–it’s only been 8 years since Ridley Scott’s 2010 adaptation starring Russell Crowe hit theaters. Although the first trailer for the ‘Robin Hood‘ was servicable, this new trailer does a really good job of selling a different, slightly more playful take on the classic tale.

The scene that opens the trailer between Taron Egerton‘s Robin and Jamie Foxx‘s Little John seems to be a fun battle of the whits between the two, but it’s the tone that seems to be different here. The film seems to be keeping in line with the classic setting of the story, resisting the urge to update the story within a modern context. Visually speaking, ‘Black Mirror‘ director Otto Bathurst seems to have captured something akin to a Tarsem Singh film, but it remains to be seen how that approach works out.

In addition to Egerton and Foxx, the film also features Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin, and Jamie Dornan. Robin Hood‘opens on November 21, 2018. In the meantime, check out some
