New ‘Aquaman’ Images Give Closer Look At Atlantis, Fisherman King and More!

Up to this point, Warner Bros./DC have been pretty tight-lipped about the upcoming Aquaman film. After abruptly pulling out of this year’s Wonder Con due to speculated cold-feet, we have yet to see a trailer or even a teaser of the next film in the DCEU slate. But we finally get a closer look at the film thanks to images released by EW. In these series of images, we get a first look at The Fisherman King played by Djimon Hounsou (who has also recently joined the cast of DC’s Shazam!), Aquaman and Mera on land and a better look at Aquaman’s kingdom of Atlantis. The Fisherman King (Djimon Hounsou) – The Fisherman King has been approached by King Orm (Patrick Wilson) and asked to join in on starting a war against the surface world. Also pictured are Natalia Safran as the Fisherman Queen, as well as the Princess, played by Sophia Forrest.
After the fall of Atlantis, some of the kingdoms evolved and some devolved,” explains producer Peter Safran. “This is one that evolved. This is a kingdom that’s primarily artistic and cerebral, with poets and philosophers.”
Due to the timing of these images being released and San Diego Comic-con right around the corner, something tells me that a trailer may come very soon and it’s very likely to happen next week at Comic-con. According to the SDCC program for July 21, WB Pictures has a panel going on in Hall H but with a “TBA.” It’s very possible that DC may surprise SDCC attendees with a look at Aquaman.

Aquaman hits theaters December 21 and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Randall Park, Dolph Lundgren, Michael Beach, and Ludi Lin.
