New ‘Rampage’ Trailer Doubles Down On the Mayhem & Monsters

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for ‘Rampage‘, starring Dwayne Johnson. The film reunites Johnson with ‘San Andreas‘ director Brad Peyton, and seems pretty much in line with that film. If you’re into Dwayne Johnson standing against computer-generated cityscapes watching giant computer-generated monsters fight, then ‘Rampage‘ is definately for you. Although this trailer does a better job of selling the tone than the first, i’m still hesitant to think that this will be anything more than schlock popcorn cinema at it’s finest. At least the film seems to be having a fun time, but who knows?

Either way you slice it, Peyton directs from a screenplay by Ryan Engle and Carlton Cuse & Ryan J. Condal and Adam Sztykiel, story by Ryan Engle, based on the video game Rampage. In addition to Johnson, ‘Rampage‘ is supported by co-stars Naomie HarrisMalin AkermanJake Lacy, Joe Manganiello Jeffrey Dean Morgan, P.J. ByrneMarley Shelton, Breanne HillJack Quaid, and Matt Gerald. ‘Rampage’ opens in theaters everywhere April 20, 2018. In the meantime, here’s the new trailer for the film, along with the official synopsis below.

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
