A new poster has been unveiled by director Duncan Jones‘ return to science fiction, ‘Mute‘. The poster is drawn in a style that was popular in the 1930’s and 1940’s, and features Alexander Skarsgård at the forefront, along with Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux. Netflix picked up the film after Jones spent over a decade trying to get the film made. ‘Warcraft‘ was certainly a critical and financial failure, but ‘Source Code‘ and ‘Moon‘ were certainly valiant sci-fi efforts, so ‘Mute’ certainly has a pedigree that seems promising, and this poster ultimately shows a confidence in the film itself.
Here’s the official poster for the film, along with the synopsis below, and you can watch the trailer here. ‘Mute‘ arrives Netflix on February 23, 2018.
As you know, theatrical screenings of @mute set to be incredibly limited, as the film is a Netflix release, but…
one very, VERY special screening of MUTE coming up in LA on the evening of the 22nd.Join me & @rianjohnson for a Q&A after! https://t.co/FG5KKFtpx9 pic.twitter.com/6ExnDfuM2U

Berlin, the future, but close enough to feel familiar: In this loud, often brutal city, Leo (Alexander Skarsgård) – unable to speak from a childhood accident – searches for his missing girlfriend, the love of his life, his salvation, through dark streets, frenzied plazas, and the full spectrum of the cities shadow-dwellers. As he seeks answers, Leo finds himself mixed up with Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd) and Duck (Justin Theroux), a pair of irreverent US army surgeons on a mission all their own. This soulful sci-fi journey from filmmaker Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft) imagines a world of strange currencies in which echoes of love and humanity are still worth listening to.
