‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ is easily the most anticipated film of the summer. The film will–according to Marvel Studios’ head honcho Kevin Feige–be a culmination of the last ten years worth of films that the studio has released. ‘Avengers: infinity War‘ will feature the largest cast to date of any entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far. But now, Anthony Mackie has confirmed that there will be a scene in the film that will feature 40 characters. That’s right you heard me–fourty characters. In one Scene.
While some people have feared that all of the heroes that appear in the film won’t get their due, it seems that this problem could be solved by some of them sharing screen time. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo surely have a lot on their plate in juggling so many characters, but it seems natural for them considering that they were able to handle twelve characters in the same scene for ‘Captain America: Civil War‘.
Speaking at Ace Comic-Con (via Comicbook.com), Mackie had this to say about the scene in question:
“There was one day we were on set and were doing this scene that’s in the trailer where we’re all running to battle, you know, all of us are on set and it’s like forty superheroes. I look to my right and I see Tom Holland and Dave Batista. I see them in the corner and Tom is literally the size of Dave’s leg, I don’t know what they’re talking about but Batista jumps up and does a kick-punch move and I was like ‘Yo, you’re about to kill him!’”
Even though we don’t know which scene in particular Mackie is referencing here, it’s not hard to imagine it’s from the battle of Wakanda (Pictured above). In addition, Chris Evans also took the stage to chime in, adding:
“That day was really fun, I know the day you’re talking about, that day was [snickers]…you’ll see. It was a great day with a lot of great people.”
So there you have it. Although it’s not exactly clear how much Mackie and Evans may be exaggerating, it also seems clear that the scene they are referencing is going to be absolutely epic. ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2018.
