Warning : Potential Spoilers Ahead for ‘The Flash‘s mid-season premiere, ‘The Trial of the Flash’.
“My name is Barry Allen, and I’m an innocent man. … I didn’t kill Clifford Devoe.”
This dialogue perfectly continues the dark and grittiness in the ‘Trial of the Flash’ from the heartbreaking cliffhanger of the fall finale episode.
As we know, Barry was previously framed in the murder of Clifford Devoe, who has swapped his consciousness into the healthy body of a mind-reading meta, dumping off his body in the process. Devastated by this incident each and every member in team Flash tries very hard to prove Barry’s innocence. Cisco collects the footage of Barry’s babbling about the trial when he arrived from the speed force. Joe tries to fabricate Marlize with the help of Ralph.
The best part of this episode is the court hall scene, where Iris tries to reveal Barry’s dual identity and was stopped by him. Though the Flash doesn’t suit up for most of the episode, he had to stop a new meta Fallout (whose was a living nuclear reactor), by creating a vortex.
First things first, after a lighter first half of season 4, the series is back to the serious mode, right from the intro util the credits. Kudos to the writers for writing the Judgement sequence with such perfection.
Liked :
1. The whole Joe and Ralph conversation,
2. Barry stopping Iris from revealing his identity,
3. Henry Allen reference scene,
4. Judgment sequence.
Disliked :
1. The new meta is just a filler for the episode,
2. The new Devoe is not menacing as the older one.
While the show started on a gloomy note, ‘The Trial of the Flash‘ ends with a heartbreaking twist. Now I am looking forward to the next episodes on how team Barry will face and solve these problems.
