John Cena in Talks to Star in ‘Duke Nukem’

Normally, you may not be able to see John Cena but there’s a big chance that you may get to see him on the big screen in the near future. According to Variety, wrestler turned actor John Cena is in talk to star in the film adaptation of Duke Nukem.

If the deal happens, Cena will star as the character Duke Nukem who’s appeared in a number of video games of the same name starting in 1991. Initially a PC game, Duke Nukem was a two-dimensional platform game which was played with horizontal and vertical scrolling. The player controlled Duke as the character took on Nazis and aliens while wearing sunglasses and chewing bubble gum. The franchise eventually adapted to console in 1996 and had several installments with the last being 2011’s Duke Nukem Forever.

John Cena has recently took time off of his wrestling career only wrestling part-time as he has been focusing on his acting career. He first appeared on the big screen in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and then appeared in films like Daddy’s Home (1 and 2), and the more recent Ferdinand where he lent his voice to the main character.

Duke Nukem is a Paramount project and will be produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes.
