Focus Features has released the first full-length trailer for ‘Super Troopers 2‘, and it is glorious. The trailer gives us our first full look at the plot of the film, which features Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar), Foster (Paul Soter), Mac (Steve Lemme), Rabbit (Erik Stolhanske), and Farva (Kevin Heffernan) all returning to settle a border dispute that arises between our heroes and some nearby canadian mounties. Naturally, cultures clash and hilarity ensues.
The film–which was crowdfunded through an extremely successful indiegogo campaign–comes out 17 years after the release of the original ‘Super Troopers’. During that time, the original film has achieved cult status, so to say that fans of the original (such as myself) are excited for the sequel is an understatement. Although the trailer itself does seem to pander to the audience of the original a little too much, it’s to be expected since the film was literally the definition of being “made for the fans”. To be honest, it feels more like a sequel to something like ‘Beerfest‘ than is does ‘Super Troopers’, but my hopes remain high that the sequel will meet the standards of the original.
The film was directed by Chandrasekhar, from a script written by the Broken lizard team. The film also stars Brian Cox, Marisa Coughlan, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tyler Labine, Lynda Carter, Rob Lowe, Will Sasso, Fred Savage and Hayes MacArthur. ‘Super Troopers 2’ hits theaters on April 20, 2018, Here’s the full-length trailer, along with the official synopsis below.
